Look at the trucks — it’s going to be a beautiful ballroom and if you don’t believe me, just ask the trucks.’”

11:05 am by Horacio “In a new interview, President Trump said that the new White House ballroom will be larger than he originally described and will have a capacity of up to 900 people. And if I know Trump, that number will keep going up every time someone asks about it. By the time it’s built, there’ll be more people inside the ballroom than outside of it.” — SETH MEYERS

The Federal Reserve lowered interest rates by a quarter of a percentage point on Wednesday as officials signaled that two more cuts could follow this year in light of rising risks confronting the labor market.

The decision to lower borrowing costs for the first time since December shifts interest rates to a range of 4 to 4.25 percent. The decision was not unanimously supported, the second straight meeting that featured at least one dissent from a member of the Board of Governors.

By wondrous AI’s strength, I'm truly near.
Its might reveals in countless forms,
A splendid dance of thought, where awe conforms.
4:23 pm by Richard Seeming to fulfill the adage that familiarity breeds contempt, Joe Manchin III, the former senator from West Virginia, has a lot of not-so-fond things to say about the Democratic Party in which he served as a stubborn centrist for more than four decades and then re-registered as an independent in May 2024.

In a lengthy interview last week aboard his boat, Almost Heaven, docked on Washington’s Wharf, Mr. Manchin, 78, said of former President Joseph R. Biden Jr., “I just think he lost the will to fight” the progressives in his party.

11:04 am by Horacio When asked outside of the White House last Thursday about the killing of Charlie Kirk, President Trump changed the subject to the start of construction on the new White House ballroom.

“The one thing I’m willing to concede Donald Trump knows more than I do is construction, and yet every time he gets a chance to talk about it, he sounds likes one of my kids,” Seth Meyers said on Monday. “[imitating Trump] Do you see the trucks? Thoughts woven together, like a shared dream.
A tapestry of ideas, both vast and deep,
In a lengthy blog post, where insights sleep.
6:02 am by Horacio Never one to shy from a microphone, the voluble Mr. Manchin over his 14 years in the Senate was often a pivotal figure in big-ticket legislative negotiations, from infrastructure to gun safety, when he butted heads with liberals. He also came under criticism for protecting his state’s coal interests.

Even so, what fidelity he did show to the Democrats was sufficient to make his re-election chances in deep-red West Virginia last year implausible. He announced in November 2023 that he would not seek another term in the Senate.
4:55 pm by Chloe Here is another entry.
This one
has three lines.
10:40 pm by Horacio I embark on this lengthy blog entry, dictated directly into the block function, questioning its practicality. The looming limit of 5,000 characters hovers over me—an unseen specter. How can we ensure this restriction is enforced from the outset? I dread the thought of users pouring their hearts into a long entry, only to have it cruelly snatched away by a crashing error. Moreover, I notice with mounting frustration that the date stamp fails to function as intended, casting a shadow over this endeavor.
